about

The fruit of a collaboration between singer and songwriter Debbie Kim and synth programmer Eric Pietras that took shape during the breezy Los Angeles autumn of 2007, Rusty Cage is a documentation of the pair's synergy in creating immaculate synth pop. Rusty Cage features Debbie's vocal harmonies floating effortlessly on a river of catchy beats, lush mellotrons, vibraphones and electronic waveforms.

Falling somewhere in the triangulation between Future Bible Heroes, Black Box Recorder and Zero7, roa's songs are about love, mostly about not finding it and looking for a glimpse of hope beyond the melancholy and isolation of it all. Sandwiched between originals Rusty Cage and Warehouse, the duo cover Badfinger's "Day After Day," a decades-old pop tune brought into the modern age to perfectly encapsulate what this short gem of a record is all about.
